Wolves 2-1 Villa. Nov 10th.

Retribution was duly served by Wolves after our victory over them in the League Cup two weeks prior. This time our opponents fielded eleven grown men instead of their youth team and the difference told, Wolves running out worthy winners against a lacklustre Villa side, still reeling from the Liverpool defeat.

Sunday games in the early afternoon just don’t feel right but with Wolves competing in Europe on Thursdays (yeah I’m still in shock too), we were delayed until the Sunday. We might as well have stayed at Bodymoor Heath though for all the presence we offered, second to everything and unable to string two passes together. We were feeble, they were on song and a 2-1 defeat flattered us massively. We scored with the last kick of the game after a VAR decision (which felt like we’d wasted a joker card since it proved immaterial).

Targett at left back had the type of shocker which reminded me of Steve Watson’s at Leicester years ago (when he got hauled off after half an hour to protect his dignity). Targett was taken off due to injury but it still felt like a mercy killing. Never mind, we all have off days. Up front we were clueless, midfield were pedestrian and the defence were disinterested, all in all we were dire.

I don’t feel moved to report anything further, it was simply a bad day at the office and ninety minutes of our lives that we’ll never get back. Onwards.
